Rationale:
The items shown on the attached surplus list will be sold or disposed of per Board Policy 3270 and in compliance with Education Code allowing unusable or items no longer needed, to be sold, donated or disposed of. Every effort is made to reuse "extra" books, equipment and supplies prior to recommending sale or disposal through Board action. The Board may also enter into contracts (per Education Code 17549) for the exchange of equipment belonging to the District and used for instructional purposes for new property of like class and kind for a similar use without advertising or taking bids. Resellers, Diamond Assets and UEG, will purchase the District's aged MacBooks and Chromebooks in exchange for credit to purchase new computers with Apple and CDW-G. This will put additional technology into our classrooms at no additional costs to the District and continue to support our NEXT 5 Strategic planning process, to continue providing 21st century classroom technology to prepare students for college and career success (strategic direction 2.5). Other items on the surplus list include furniture from Jefferson School, miscellaneous unusable equipment currently stored at the warehouse, and aged copier machines.

The District strongly advocated educational partnerships. We appreciate and recognize the following individuals for being part of our team and thank them for their generosity.

Mental Health and Homeless Education and Joey's Food Locker received a $100 donation from Adventure Christian Church of North Natomas. American Lakes Elementary School received a $191.40 donation from Funding Factory. Jefferson Elementary School received a $308 donation through the Wells Fargo Community Support Campaign. Two Rivers Elementary School received a $1,000 donation from the Two Rivers PTA for office supplies. Natomas Middle School received a $200 donation from the Rotary Club of Natomas #5180 for the music program. Natomas High School received a $168 donation from Elaine Ancheta through the PG&E Employee Giving Program. Discovery High School received a $250 donation from Dohnovan Ledesma.

 
XV.g. Approve Member Updates to the Measure D Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee

XV.i. Approve Five-Year Lease Agreement with Discovery Office Systems

Rationale:
The attached five year lease agreement with Discovery Office Systems for Multi-Functional Copiers/Printers follows the District's 2017 copier pilot program that allowed staff to assess the functionality, quality and efficiency of copiers while in use. This lease agreement is a piggyback contract through the El Dorado Irrigation District. Terms and conditions in the agreement include a 90-day written notice requirement to end the 5-year agreement and avoid automatic renewal. New copiers will be in place for start of next school year. The benefits of leasing new copiers will allow the District to stay current with copier equipment that is compatible with new technology, and includes print, scan, copy and fax capabilities. Monthly rental amount is $8,176 for a total amount of $98,112 per year. Maintenance cost ranges from $0.0038 to $0.0049 per image depending on the type of device. The lease and maintenance cost is within the District's current general fund copier budget.

Rationale:
The 2016-2018 Contract with Sacramento City Police Department (SCPD) was approved by the Board on June 22, 2016 with a not to exceed (NTE) amount of $926,628. Due to an increase of school activities and events requiring coverage, the costs associated with the contract for School Resource Officers (SRO) is estimated to exceed the original contract amount by $25,000 by end of school year. The amended contract (expiring June 30, 2018) is attached.

The District recognizes and acknowledges the importance of our School Resource Officers in maintaining a high degree of safety on our school campuses. The proposed 2-year contract for 2018-2020 assigns 3 School Resource Officers to the secondary campuses; and also provides coverage to middle and elementary schools as needed.

The cost of the proposed 2018-2020 (2-year) contract with Sacramento City Police Department in the amount of $1,091,469 is attached.

XVI.b. Approve First Amendment to Site/Facilities Leases with XL Construction for Jefferson Modernization Project Establishing Scope, Schedule, Guaranteed Maximum Price

Via Resolution No. 17-37 the Board of Trustees awarded Site/Facilities Leases with XL Construction for the Jefferson Modernization Project on December 13, 2017. It was stated in the contracts that at such time DSA approval was obtained and a price and schedule were finalized with the contractor, an amendment to the contract would be brought to the Board for review and approval. The Jefferson Modernization project received DSA approval on May 3, 2018. The Guaranteed Maximum Price of Eight Million One Hundred Fifty Two Thousand Two Hundred Forty-Four Dollars ($8,152,244.00) has been agreed upon between XL Construction and Natomas Unified, and the project schedule has been finalized.

This is an excellent opportunity for NUSD students to earn dual enrollment credit through American River College. The MOU can also be called a College and Career Access Pathways Partnership Agreement. During the time that our teacher uses the ARC curriculum under the agreement, ARC will pay for his time and there are no costs to NUSD except curriculum materials (which would replace current materials).
