XV.b. Approve Increases to Unrepresented/Confidential/Management Salary Schedules Aligned with Ratified Collective Bargaining Agreement with Natomas Teachers Association
Quick Summary / Abstract:
Superintendent Recommends Approval Angela Herrera, Assistant Superintendent - Human Resources
Rationale:
  • On August 13, 2018, Trustees ratified the tentative agreement with NTA, which included a 3% increase to the NTA certificated bargaining unit salary schedules. The tentative agreement also included a one-time 1% off-schedule payment in October 2018, a 1% off-schedule payment for professional development opportunities, and an annual $600 increase in the District’s contribution toward health and welfare benefits for the bargaining unit members who qualify for and enroll in coverage.
  • We are requesting the Trustees to approve a matching 3% increase for Unrepresented, Confidential and Management employees. We also request the Trustees approve the one-time 1% off-schedule payment in October for these employee groups.
  • These employee groups will not receive an additional 1% off-schedule payment for professional development opportunities, which the NTA members will have the opportunity to earn.
  • These employees who qualify for and enroll in health and welfare benefits coverage will also receive the annual $600 increase in the District’s contribution.
  • As a reminder, the classified salary schedule was updated as of July 1, 2018 to reflect the 2% increase that was agreed to in the October 3rd, 2016 ratification of the collective bargaining agreement between the California School Employees Association (CSEA), Chapter 745 and the Natomas Unified School District. While the CSEA agreement includes language that affords them a salary increase reflective of what NTA has received, any salary increase above the 2% already agreed to is still subject to negotiations. NUSD sunshined its negotiations with CSEA on June 6th, 2018 and is awaiting a response from CSEA to begin the negotiations process.
